TESTIMONIALS

"BCCL has made a great difference in the life of our son Matthew.  His home share situation is a loving and caring relationship that has existed for the past eleven years. Matthew is the only person with a handicapping condition living in his house.  Previously he was in a large group home with twelve other residents.

Matt’s day program is one that allows him to work and play in the community each day of the week.  He has had a paper route for the past eleven years, is a member of the local YMCA, and volunteers at Wal-Mart to mention just some of his weekly activities.  He is happiest in non-competitive situations and his day program is perfectly suited to his individual needs."

"My daughter Joanne receives a variety of services from BCCL.  Joanne has both a developmental disability as well as a physical disability.  Joanne requires a high level of support with all areas of day to day living but the staff of BCCL have provided her with many positive activities including recreational and
employment opportunities.
Joanne attends Connections (a day support program) in which she has had the opportunity to practice yoga, learn a variety of life skills and maintain a high level of fitness through curling, bowling and fitness classes.  The staff are amazing--they balance support with independence and make the program fun for all.  Joanne has 6 volunteer jobs and constantly displays an amazing work ethic.  It was BCCL staff that assisted Joanne with locating the volunteer jobs and who taught Joanne how to create a resume and exhibit the employment skills needed to be a valued employee.
As a family, we have received funding for respite, funding for a continuing partnership with Reach for the Rainbow (Joanne works as a volunteer camp counselor), assistance with Ministry applications and a variety of resource support.  The staff at BCCL are amazing! If we have a problem or a question, they will provide an answer. They give Joanne the support to be the best she can be and the opportunities to participate in her community. We can't thank BCCL enough for the continuing support that we receive and the high standards that every staff member exhibits."

“Throughout the years he was with BCCL, the staff made very effort to make ‘R’s life genuinely enjoyable and full.  His health had its ups and downs but the staff worked very hard to bring him through each challenge.  Their calling in life is not one that many of us could respond to and they handle it with compassion and a sincere attempt to make the lives of those in their care more meaningful.”

“BCCL has supported my daughter, Kathy, for over 12 years.  They have done an exceptional job of meeting her residential and program needs.  Although her “home base” has changed twice, each move has added a new dimension for her benefit.  She is now enjoying a homeshare environment with a wonderfully warm and supportive family where there are young people and great pets.  I am particularly comforted by this new family’s inclusion of Kathy’s natural family in all aspects of her life!

Kathy’s day programs and activities have also been carefully managed by BCCL.  She has been provided with safe, stimulating environments and energetic staff who help her to access things she loves to do such as swimming, bowling and horse back riding.

All these very positive aspects of Kathy’s life have been the direct result of hard work and sincere valuing on the part of all levels of BCCL staff.  Kathy and I are so grateful!!”
